Children level up as they earn XP from completed quests
XP Requirements by Level:

|---|---|---|
| Level 1 β 2 | 100 XP | 100 XP |
| Level 2 β 3 | 200 XP | 300 XP |
| Level 3 β 4 | 300 XP | 600 XP |
| Level 4 β 5 | 400 XP | 1,000 XP |
| Level N β N+1 | N Γ 100 XP | Cumulative |
π Level Up Celebrations:
When a child levels up, they see a special animation on their dashboard and receive a notification. Make it special by celebrating in real life too!
Creating Effective Rewards
Design rewards that motivate without breaking the bank (or your sanity)
Reward Categories & Price Ranges:
π Low Cost (10-25 coins)
π Medium Cost (30-50 coins)
π High Cost (75-150+ coins)
π‘ Pricing Tips:
- β’ A typical quest gives 10-25 coins, so adjust prices accordingly
- β’ Make high-value rewards feel achievable (5-10 quests worth)
- β’ Offer both immediate gratification (cheap) and long-term goals (expensive)
- β’ Non-monetary rewards (time, privileges) often work best
Managing the Reward Shop
Keep your shop fresh and engaging
Shop Workflow:
-
Parents create rewards:
Go to Rewards page β Add New Reward β Set name, description, price
-
Children browse shop:
Kids see all active rewards with prices and can save up for what they want
-
Purchase rewards:
When child has enough coins, they click "Purchase" β Coins deducted automatically
-
Redeem rewards:
Purchased rewards show in child's "Claimed" list β Parents fulfill in real life
-
Mark as redeemed:
After fulfilling, parents mark reward as completed
Shop Management Tips:
- β Keep variety: Mix instant gratification with long-term goals
- β Seasonal rewards: Add holiday specials, summer activities, birthday month perks
- β Limited editions: Create scarcity with "only this week" special rewards
- β Toggle active/inactive: Rotate rewards to keep shop fresh without deleting
- β Child input: Let kids suggest rewards they'd actually want
Advanced Reward Settings
Fine-tune your family's reward economy
Settings β Rewards & Coins:
π― Reward Multipliers
Apply temporary boosts to XP or coin earnings:
- β’ 1.5x XP Weekend: Level up faster on Saturdays/Sundays
- β’ 2x Coins Week: Birthday month special, double coin rewards
- β’ Bonus for streak: Extra rewards for completing quests daily
π° Weekly Allowance
Give children base income independent of quests:
- β’ Set fixed weekly coin amount (e.g., 10 coins/week)
- β’ Deposited automatically every Monday
- β’ Good for younger kids or guaranteed baseline
- β’ Can be higher for older/responsible children
π XP Scaling
Adjust difficulty of leveling up:
- β’ Easy Mode: Level requirements reduced by 25%
- β’ Normal: Default progression (Level N = N Γ 100 XP)
- β’ Hard Mode: Level requirements increased by 50%
Reward System Best Practices
Do:
- β Balance instant and long-term rewards
- β Make rewards age-appropriate
- β Include non-monetary rewards (privileges, time)
- β Let children save up for big goals
- β Celebrate level-ups as milestones
- β Adjust prices based on child's earning rate
Don't:
- Γ Make rewards too expensive (unreachable)
- Γ Only offer material rewards (stuff)
- Γ Change prices after purchase
- Γ Remove rewards kids are saving for
- Γ Forget to fulfill claimed rewards
- Γ Over-complicate the system
